Farlanes Pride+/ strutting his stuff to the music of "In The Mood", ridden by Tammy Martin and her daughter, Skylar, Age 4. Johnny Johnston photo.
Our Open House was a labor of love. I wanted to showcase our CMK Arabians as family horses, as versatile horses and as true companions. I think we accomplished this judging from the many comments. Many, many friends showed up early asking me to put them to work to help. It was so appreciated - so many last minute preparations.
Coming in the gate we had a table for people to sign our guest book, register for breedings that were raffled (free) to Serazim and to FV Sharabba, scrap books to look at and a very large basket full of carrots for people to grab to feed the horses (the horses loved that part).
Sandy and Dick Warren made the 6 hr. trip from Sanger, CA to see their mares which they hadn't seen in nearly 2 years. Nadine Phillips, life-long owner of Serazim was there. She had helped get babies ready during the whole week prior and came back to lead horses out for the show. Earl Kelley, owner of Ibn Aulrab and Cara Glory, dropped by on his way through taking horses up to Seattle.
Johnny Johnston took photographs and Bengt Nilsson videoed the event and also provided the sound system. There were about 100 people in attendance, CMK breeders and non-CMK, friends from my work (mostly non horsy - but loving to get in there and hug the babies), and many people responding to ads I had run in local publications. My daughter, Trini, headed up the food, street signs, balloon efforts - a big job. My friend, Alan Gray, had worked 2 months getting the older horses ready and this was finally THE day.

We opened the "party" with Farlanes Pride+/ in Native Costume flying into the ring to a very upbeat version of "In The Mood", ridden by Tammy Martin. After making several passes along the crowd, Tammy brought him into center ring and her little daughter, Skylar, age 4, ran into the ring dressed in the identical costume to her mom's. She was lifted on to Pride's back and placed in front of Tammy. They made more passes at the hand gallop with Skylar laughing and waving to everyone. The crowd loved it.
Next we showed individual stallions. We showed each one at the level of training that they are at.
Legacy of Ga'Zi was shown by Alan Gray in hand and turned loose. "Legs" is only 3 and was having a grand time racing around.

FV Sharabba was shown in the long lines by Tammy Martin and then stood up. Sharabba is 15-2HH and truly impressive.

Serazim was shown Hunt Seat, ridden by 13 yr old Courtney Lance.

He was also turned loose and delighted?? everyone by promptly rolling. At 24 years he is still limber and trots beautifully, showing that performance ability that is passed along to so many foals.
Farlanes Pride was brought out again by Tammy in English Pleasure. His high floaty trot still breaking over level at age 24. Pride and Serazim were born the same year - must have been a good one.
GA Dove's English Pleasure photo coming soon!
Other horses shown under saddle were GA Dove (Galan x DA Gheyn), English Pleasure,

and Aur Magic Ali (Aur Samari x Magic Alarieha), Western, ridden by 12 yr old Ryan Haiker.
Bred mares were shown after "their" stallion was shown and mares and babies were brought out individually and then turned loose and ran, putting on that final show for everyone. Many carrots were rewarded.
Winners of the breedings were Carolyn Downs of Cherry Valley, CA (Serazim) and Ryan Haiker of Riverside, CA (FV Sharabba). A nice aside is that Carolyn's son, Steve, had been stationed in Seattle in the Navy approximately 8 years ago. Serazim was also in Washington at that time and Steve had a part-time job exercising and grooming him. Steve and his mom had come to the Open House especially to see him.
A Good Time Was Had By All!!!
