My love affair with COUNTRY HEIR began in 1980. He was an extraordinary young stallion bred and owned by Bevan's Arabians, showing every bit of promise as his two full sisters, US & Canadian National Champion Halter and Performance, BASQUELLE++ and Halter and Performance Champion, BASQUELITA++. 15'2" tall with the longest neck and such a regal bearing, COUNTRY HEIR conquered all who met him. Sired by the unforgettable *BASK++ and out of one of the most lovely and prolific Crabbet-bred mares, COUNTRY BELLE. I bred to him in those days and got the beautiful mare, PHYNESSE, sold to Bevans at age two. PHYNESSE became a Regional Pleasure Driving Champion and after 17 years, came home home to us. COUNTRY HEIR disappeared from view in the 1980's and was only found again in 2002. I am happy to say that we were able to provide a permanent home and a family that loved him for the remainder of his life and beyond - in a place of honor - loved, pampered and servicing select mares. He occupies a permanent spot in our lives and in our souls. We miss him every day.
The following photos were taken at our 2003 Open House, just 4 months before his incredible journey was over.
Good Night Sweet Prince!
